Sebas van Wetten / Dansavontuur is a dancer, teacher and organizer based in Amersfoort, the Netherlands. He has been hosting regular contact improvisation classes and jams in the Utrecht area since 2002. He discovered Contact Improvisation by chance in Berlin in 1996 – and was immediately captivated. That fascination has never left him. Through jamming, taking classes and workshops with various teachers, the desire to teach grew naturally.
In his classes, Sebas draws attention to the subtle movements of bones, joints and organs – inviting a surprising and refined experience of the body. This approach expands movement possibilities and consistently leads to a richer, more attuned and more personal dance. And, as he finds, to more joy in dancing.
His background as a dancer and teacher is rooted in Contact Improvisation, Body-Mind Centering and Dance Expression. Alongside his work as a dance teacher, he also works as a physiotherapist. His fascination with anatomy and the extraordinary potential of human movement brings both worlds together.
