Maaike van der Westeringh is a dance teacher, contemporary dancer and choreographer based in Amsterdam. She is passionate about the ephemeral beauty of the present moment. She believes that dance is a powerful medium through which we can connect with each other and our surroundings on a deeper level than words allow. She derives great joy from creating and sharing playful, interactive dance experiences through workshops and performances.
Maaike is deeply fascinated by improvisation and contact improvisation. She has studied intensively with renowned figures such as David Zambrano and attended workshops with Julyen Hamilton. Since 2010, she has been teaching dance workshops in nature at Buitenkunst and other venues, taking a dynamic approach to movement exploration.
Motivated by her desire to understand the contribution of dance to mental and physical well-being, Maaike co-founded the Kudde foundation. Through this initiative, she develops dance and theatre projects for the arts and community settings. In recent years, she has focused on creating interactive musical dance performances for young children and their families, collaborating with musician Jonathan De Neck.
