Ilse van Haastrecht is a dance teacher, performer and dance movement therapist based in The Hague. She trained in performing dance at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague and Codarts Rotterdam, and has since built a rich career spanning performance, education and therapeutic practice.
Dance improvisation has been a deep love since she graduated. In her teaching she is drawn to the magic of being seen, the way a moment of improvisation, received by others, can become a powerful affirmation of self-expression. Her approach is strongly influenced by studies with Billie Hanne and Julyen Hamilton, her experience as a performing artist, and the Axis Syllabus, of which she was a candidate teacher from 2013 to 2018.
Ilse currently teaches dance improvisation for adults in The Hague and works as a dance movement therapist with people with dementia and acquired brain injury.
