Loby Lam is a movement artist based in Enschede, the Netherlands. His path to Contact Improvisation winds through music, breakdance, theatre and a nomadic phase of backpacking and hitchhiking – during which CI resonated deeply with his belief in authentic connection through play.
He traveled the globe to explore CI: Hong Kong, Budapest, Berlin, Krakow, Groningen, Amsterdam and Göttingen. This led him to found Kahbam in Enschede – a space bringing together the many perspectives of movement he had gathered along the way.
Inspired by CI founder Steve Paxton’s Aikido background, Loby expanded into martial arts, practicing Aikido since 2014 and achieving 2nd Dan in Tokyo in 2020.
Today, Kahbam reaches beyond Enschede, with invitations to teach at the Dutch CI Festival, Contact meets Contemporary, Living Village and internationally in Morocco. His wish is to bring together the many perspectives of movement, play and authentic human connection.
